In the internet age, fraud cases are rampant. More than $12.5 billion was lost in 2023 to online fraud in reported cases. To uncover fraud, it begins with learning to identify fraudulent signals. Supported by the Hennepin County Government, Minnesota International Chinese School proudly presents a series of community education lectures.

This series focuses on explaining common fraud methods, discussing basic terms and technical knowledge, popularizing common identification techniques, and how to protect personal information.

Lecture 1 on 4/20: Understanding Fraud.

Unravel the hidden mess of how fraud actually works. After this lecture you should understand the techniques and methods fraudsters use to preform identity theft and more.

Lecture 2 on 4/27: Identifying Fraud. 

Identify the common patterns that fraudsters use to victimize people. Understand what is a real vs fake URL. Learn ways to verify the legitimacy of emails and phone calls.
